Spring 2014 Lineup

Thirty three anime. I am hurting bad. I think I have three main series left and two anime shorts. The rest are on-going kid shows so I think it’s safe to close this lineup for now. I’ll need to collect my energy for Soul Eater Not and I’ll need to see the first seasons of Hanamonogatari and Mushishi before I watch it. Again, these are grouped according to their score. Anything eight and above is something I wholeheartedly recommend. Those grouped in 7s are flawed but good shows. I think most 6s are mediocre but still enjoyable to a degree. Some 5s cater to specific individual who’ll find their appeal charming despite the heavy flaws. 4s are doable but boring and 3 below are just plain bad. I think I am finally getting a good grasp of how my score system works. Anyways, click on the picture to see the review.

To those that care, I will not be moving on to Summer 2014 for now. I have unfinished business as I skipped Winter 2014 and I need to mop up Fall 2013. The perfectionist inside is insisting I come back for the shows I purposely abandoned. I will also tackle Fall 2010 as it is in my review poll for now. This’ll keep me busy for a long time. Oh, and another lineup as well. This is a lineup I dropped in favor of current lineups but I think it’s time to comeback to it. I’ll keep it secret for now. That’s that. Let me rest now.

  1. So, here I am, on the tail end of a week-long Spring Break, having rediscovered anime after a five-year hiatus. I needed something to clear my palate after a marathon session of Your Lie in April (broke my heart, I tell ya!) and was looking for reviews of the next title on my Crunchyroll queue. Lo and behold, you were the top Google hit for Kamigami no Asobi and I settled in for a quick read to see if it would be worth my time.

FIVE HOURS later, my Crunchyroll/Hulu/Netflix queue is several dozen titles richer and I am now a true convert to your blog. English grammar bedamned, my friend! And I know of what I speak since I’m an English major and English high school teacher as well. You do yourself a disservice and I encourage you to revise your “About” page to reflect the truth – you, sir, are eloquent, thorough and a true joy to read. I love your engaging voice, both amusing and wry as well as tolerant and open-minded. You give each title a fair shot and support your opinions with strong evidence without spoiling plot at all. I ended up spending my penultimate day of holidays, not watching anime, but reading about it on your blog. That is the mark of a true genius. Bravo!

Not only that, I have now caught up from my 5-year hiatus and I have a clearer understanding of what I missed and what it out there for the offering. If I do follow through with my idea of starting an anime elective next school year, I have you to thank for providing me the impetus.

So, TPAB, domo arigato gozaimasu from the bottom of my kokoro. I look forward to reading more of your insights in the months and hopefully years to come. You have made a fan out of me.

(Now hayaku and review Free! already! Would love to read what your opinions are on that brainless yet delicious bishonen anime!)

    P.S. Go Pinoy power! 😀

  2. I did not know you liked Kiniro no Corda: Blue Sky 🙂 Well, Kiniro no Corda is pretty decent series as you can see in the original many classical music references. I haven’t seen Haikyuu or Ping Pong yet which I am aiming to do eventually.

Thoughts~
